Avenida Palace - Barcelona

Next morning after our arrival we were asked to move to another suite. Our move was arranged in very prompt manner, to our delight new room was even better than original, with great view and terrace and we were offered free breakfast for the inconvenience

The location of this hotel is so convinient it's not even funny. First your in the best area or Barcelona. For shoping and restaurants. If you want to go to the Rambla it's 2.5 bloclks away. The rambla is a VERY busy and noisy street with many hotels both good and not so good but with plenty of fun to be had. This hotel gives you the option of walking to the crazy Rambla area and then walk back to the nice gortgeous quit hotel. We had a room on the street side and didnot hear a noise due to the fact the windows have been noise proofed. Transportation via Metro, Buses and taxis are available as you walk out the door. I recomend you by a pass to ride the buses and metro which take you in absolute confort to ALL mayor attractions that Barcelona offers. If you just hop on the bus or metro (subway) not having purchased the pass it will cost you bouble so just purchase it. On your way out of the hotel in the morning you ask the front desk which bus or metro you take to where ever your going and they will tell you. They never steared us wrong. OUTSTANDING staff. We could not be happier and are palnning another trip to Barcelona and will be staying here again. All public transportation is clean graffiti free and air conditioned and very safe. No need to rnt a car unless you want to leave the city. We went to Valencia and we took the train, it was perfect and yes they all run on time and when I say on time I mean on time. Food in Barcelona is the best I've had anywhere in the world all fresh and the presentation ou of this world. If I had to say something negative it would be the carpets in the rooms are due for a change, that's not to say the rooms smelt because they didn't so it was NOT an issue watsoever.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for several nights after reading other comments posted by previous people and we were very satisfied with this hotel. The location was very easy to get to from the airport and convenient. The staff was very helpful in every way. The room was quiet at night and though the bed was firmer than what we are used to, it was good (firm beds are a standard in Europe.) We did not eat at the restaurant (too many other good places to eat nearby!) We would stay here again.

This hotel is situated in a great location with bars and shops just a few minutes walk. It is with easy access to the bus terminal on the plaza from the airport so travel to and from the airport could not be easier. Notwithstanding the fact that found Barcelona to be expensive had great time and would recommend this hotel.

We found the Avenida Palace a first class hotel with no amenity overlooked. It has a great central location, convenient to the La Ramblas yet a few blocks from all the chaos.

We visited Barcelona after our cruise. The staff was very helpful. It is located in the center of all the city sights. Great shopping around the hotel. The hotel had discounted "open air" tour bus tickets to purchase there. A great way to survey Barcelona.

Excellent location, near restaurants, Las Ramblas, Hop on - Hop Off bus stop around the corner.

My sister and I really enjoyed staying in the Avenida Palace. The location was great. We were given a room on arrival even though we came in on a morning flight. The room was very comfortable.

Great location for touring. One block from the tour bus route, one block from Metro, one mile from the old train station. Great restaurants in the surrounding blocks. Short walk to La Rambla, Picasso Museum, Gaudi buildings, other tourist sites. Upscale neighborhood - great for walking around. Room was spacious for Europe; bright, modern, clean bathroom; bed was hard. Staff was helpful and spoke fluent English.

Great hotel between Las Ramblas, the pedestrian street, and the shopping district. Not noisy, everything was walkable, room was much nicer and larger than expected. Front desk was helpful and plenty of restaurants and activities close by. Overall a great find.

This was a great value and a really nice hotel. Staff was helpful and pleasant and spoke enough English to complement our little bit of Spanish. They allowed us into our room early (by noon) and kept our luggage locked up safely from the moment we arrived early in the a.m. so we could be free to explore. The location is terrific. Walking distance to great places to eat, shop and see the historic district, plus easy access to public transportation too. The room was nice but beds are really hard, and the hairdryer was the old model attached to wall that was impossible to really use. Bring your own, but with an adapter for 110. Our only real problem was a huge demonstration outside the hotel which seemed to be hosting a conference. It scared us silly because protesters were loud, set off cherry bombs and blocked the entrance. Luckily it only lasted a few hrs. 1 day! Whew...

Great location. Standard of room and housekeeping first rate, certainly worthy of four star deluxe rating. Spotlessly clean and very well presented hotel overall. The lifts include a touch screen LCD display which allow guests to view hotel information and live weather information in multiple languages.

We only had 2 nights there, but found the hotel very comfortable and friendly. We were pleasantly surprised to arrive at 10.30am to confirm our reservation and leave our bags, to be told we could actually check into our room there and then (strictly speaking should have been 2pm). The consierge was very efficient and helpful and gave us some very good maps and info. We only reserved a standard room, but were thrilled to find we had our own balcony on the roof terrace - shame it wasn't quite warm enough at 15C to sit outside and enjoy it. The hotel is very central and easily found from the airport shuttle bus. It is very close to theatres and restaurants, but the 4 panel glazing ensured that the traffic noise and city bustle was not heard in our room. We were booked "room only" so cannot comment on dining facilities. We booked this hotel following a recommendation from a friend and it was everything we hoped it would be. I would happily recommend this to anyone wanting to enjoy luxury at an affordable price.

Hotel was wonderful but did not have any 100V outlets. In addition, the street address shown on the confirmation page from hotels.com was not helpful for our taxi's trying to find the hotel. The actual address was different. Otherwise our stay was excellent.

My wife and I booked at the last minute and had a great deal. It was our last nite of our Spain 9 day tour before flying out. We were impressed by the hotel's location with access to the major tourist attractions and public transportation. The rooms were well appointed, comfortable, and clean. We had also stayed at the Royal Ramblas which was of equal comfort and amenities but Avenida Palace gets you a bit closer to the neighborhood and a bit different snapshot of local activities.

Plenty of restaurants, shopping and access to transportation in this area. The public areas of the hotel were beautiful. Front desk personnel were very helpful with recommendations and reservations.

Good location for Plac de Cattaluna and La Rambala. Nice hotel friendly staff, but rooms a bit on small side, this was probably due to the size of bed, huge. room had usual facilities including safe, large flat screen tele, but surprisingly no coffee making facilites, this was a disapointment. Hotel decor was excellent, its location three minutes walk to pl. de Catalunna and la Rambla.Its only a five Euro taxi fare from the bus station Estacio del Nord, which is itself only two metro stops from pl De catalunna. There are plenty of eating places next to hotel including a brilliant Tappas Bar. Would I stay there again? yes.

I booked this hotel as a birthday present trip for my husband and we were not disappointed. It is not far from Las Ramblas and the hussle and bussle of Barcelona but far enough away to be quiet and peaceful. It has a beautiful reception with helpful staff. We arrived at 8.45am and wanted to leave the luggage until check in time at 2pm but the receptionist said the room was available and we could move in straight away. A great help as we were both tired out. It was a standard double room with a queen size bed, which must have been 6' wide. There was plenty of cupboards and wardrobe space, a small lobby, a beautiful bathroom with toiletries renewed every day and bathrobe. Also a safe and mini bar. We used the mini bar to keep our own drinks in and didn't use any of the hotels. The room was very stylish, comfortable and clean. It overlooked the backs of other uildings and we never knew what the weather was like unless we went downstairs into the lobby to check. We liked the piano bar every evening which was very relaxing after an evening in Barcelona. We didn't eat in the hotel as the menu seemed limited and the prices are comparable to the rest of Barcelona, which are overpriced to say the least. We would certainly go there again.

The room is nice and the location is great. It is within walking distance to most tourist attractions. Close enough to subway station. I definately would recommend this hotel to anyone.

This establishment met our needs for a quiet room that was very clean and comfortable. Close enough to the Las Rambles traffic but distant enough for a break from the noise. Breakfast is an expensive shock but convenient. There are other less expensive alternatives close enough.

Located in the heart of the city, a 2 minute walk from all the main shopping areas. Rooms are excellent with plenty of room and most important " Clean - Tidy - Quite" Very helpful staff always looking to assist when required.

Hotel is 5 minutes from main train station which airport RENFE train stops at direct from airport. It is only one street away from the top of Las Ramblas the main tourist street. The hotel is very clean staff were helpfull and stored our bags without charge as we had to check out for midday and our flight was not until 9pm that evening. Room was an average size with TV internet point phone. Bathroom very clean fresh towels every day if required in room safe and mini bar. Only thing our room backed onto the lift area and above us sounded like someone walking back and forward with high heels on a marble floor quite noisy but as we were only staying 2 nights not too big a deal. Reception keep good free maps and are happy to help with directions. Definatly recommend

Comfortable, slightly old fashioned hotel in a terrific location for seeing all the sights of Barcelona. The staff are very friendly and helpfull, a slight downside is that from some rooms you can hear the noise from the Metro although it is not too intrusive. We would stay there again and would recommend it to friends.

Staying at this hotel was a wonderful, elegant experience. Clean, safe and quiet rooms. Professional and courteous service. I will stay there again without hesitation.

The location is excellent -- within walking distance of the Placa de Catalunya and La Ramlas. Staff is very professional and service-oriented. The rooms are nice (great TV) but the shower leaked a bit. We enjoyed our stay!

Got there well before check in time and the staff put our luggage in storage and our valuables in the lobby safe untill our room was ready. Room was large and comfortable with large double vanity bathroom. We were on the 9th floor and the only traffic noise we heard was an occasional siren, noise from other guests was minimal. Located one block from Las Ramblas and within walking distance of most of the sights to see in Barcelona, shopping and restaraunts nearby. A very courteous and helpful staff. We look forward to our next stay there.

Near everything. This is a walking city. Lots to do. The hotel was nice, the staff friendly and helpful. The beds were uncomfortable for me. Too hard.

The hotel was located in a perfect location, close to La Rambia and one blockfrom a delightful extension of La Rambia with open air cafes. The hotel is very nice lobbyand staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms nice and clean but could use updating with current drapes and spreads. The bathroom was a nice as most 5 star hotels with the best lighting we had on our trip. All and all, we enjoyed our stay and if you like Oriental food, we had some of the best we have ever had one block west and one store south from the SW corner.

Excellent hotel.... I would more than recommend it to my friends, especially if they need access to the opera house or to the main heart of Barcelona.

Arrived late in evening and made to feel very welcome. Excellent location for, sagrada familia, casa mila, only one block from town centre and leisurely stroll to town centre, la ramblas and gothic quarter. Hotel very comfortable and friendly. Very helpful staff for local informtion on eating places and quickest routes to sights. Would want to stay here if returning to Barcelona.

We had stayed at the hotel previously and our return met our expectations of the past. The location is walking distance to everything, the rooms comfortable and clean. Our only problem was the front desk with one issue. Overhearing what we planned to pay for a taxi to the airport, they nicely told us it was too much. We canceled the taxi and had the desk schedule us one for the next morning. When it arrived we found that they would charge 15 Euro more than the cab we had canceled. My complaint brought a shrug of the shoulders, and we were lucky enough to hail another cab at a more normal rate.

We were pleasantly surprised with the hotel given the price - old world charm, cleanliness, efficient staff and extremely convenient location. We would absolutely recommend this to others without any reservations.

MY WIFE AND MYSELF HAVE NOW USED THIS HOTEL FOU TIMES IN RECENT YEARS. WE FIND THE STAFF VERY HELPFUL, FACILITIES CLEAN, AN EXCELLENT PLACE FOR RELAXING OR THE WOMANS COMLAINT OF RETAILTHERAPY. ONLY GRIPE I HAVE OF THIS TIMES VISIT IS THAT WE HAD A ROOM AT THE BACK SO IT WAS VERY DARK INSIDE , OTHERWISE CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE

We stayed here last week16th april 08. Hotel was in a great location at the top of Las Ramblas it cost 30 Euros by taxi from the airport. though you can get the bus just outside the airport. Reception staff were very helpful. It was a bit pricey as we left booking it till last minute. We had room only and as it cost 21 Euros each for breakfast which consisted of 2 coffee's 6 bread roll's and 2 pots of jam, via room service, though they only charged us 21 Euros. Hotel was very clean and the room was not a bad size, the bed was very hard, we had a hall way in to the room and en suite with towels, shampoo, shower gel etc... The is no kettle in the room, though you can order coffee at 3 Euros each. There is flat screen tv and mini fridge in the room however ours did not work and everything was warm, also a safe in the room. the restraunt was pricey and we did not know what was on the menu as it was all spanish. we ate 3 doors down the road where the prices were very cheap it was approx 7.50 Euros for 1/2 chicken n chips. We also took the open air bus that took you around Barcelona for 21 Euros each and you could get on and off at the sights. Enjoyed our saty here, even though it rained a little.
