The good news: comfortable bed and room clean, staff reasonably pleasant. Location very good. The bad news: claims to be an executive room were not met. Very small room. Also rather noisy. No guest book of information in room to help you in anyway. Overated and expensive.

The hotel is in a great location, staff and facilities are excellent but the room was tiny

Nice location, not right in the centre but a good location from the airport and everything close by to walk to. Nice pebble beaches and the old town was fab with it's flower market and cathedral ruins. Really nice place for a laid back holiday. Hotel was always clean and tidy and the staff friendly, only issue was that the executive room wasn't very executive, wonder what a standard room would look like! They did upgrade us to a suite though which was kind although not much different. Would go to a hotel on the sea front next time but would not shy away from staying at this hotel again either!

We booked an executive room at the Hotel Ellington, as we got 4 nights for the price of 3, we thought we'd treat ourselves to a good room. However, on arrival we were very disappointed with the room, whilst it was really clean, it was quite small, the bathroom being quite outdated and tiny. We went to reception and said we felt the room was wrong, apparently in France the rating of rooms is not for room size but quality of deco. The manager changed the room for us and we got a slightly smaller room but much bigger bathroom. He was very pleasant about it. The hotel itself is very clean and modern, great choice at breakfast and the staff were pleasant. I would go back but not pay any extra for an exec room!

Only a veneer of a 4 star, should really only be a 2.5 star. Good location though.

this hotel was value for money. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would use this hotel again. Right in the centre of Nice. One complaint was there was building works going on just outside our room a lot of early morning noise.

We stayed 4 night for a short city break. We were delighted how central it was. The staff were very friendly and helpful. No problem with English language which was great. Our room was a good size and very clean. I did have to buy ear plugs though as I am not used to traffic noise, especially the scooters which make alot of noise.

We had booked an executive room, which the second highest grade. The room was very small. When one walked straight in from the entrance to the bedroom, one would walk into the bed, there was such little space in the room. We queried whether this was indeed an "executive room" as it was so small. We were informed that it was. I cannot imagine how small the lower grade rooms are. Having said that, the bed/pillows were extremely comfortable and the room & adjoining bathroom were spotless. Our room was cleaned/made up on a daily basis and to a very high level. I do not think the price of the room was value for money considering its size.

Not sure I'd like to pay the list rates but a great little boutique hotel in a geat city. Needs real air con in the rooms though, the gentle draft offered by the ventilation system isn't good enough.

This is a comfortable hotel. A good position of 10 minutes walk away from the beach and only 5 minutes away from the restaurants. But the standard rooms we fairly small and it was really noisy with the traffic in the street that we didn't sleep well. The key card also stopped working twice, but apart from these two issues the staff were friendly and was generally good overall.

Nice hotel, fantastic location just a stone's throw away from the hustle and bustle of Nice. Gorgeous place, highly recommended. Didn't get to go further afield as we were only there for two nights but the hotel overall was fine.

Generally, I was pleased with my choice of hotel as it was reasonably priced (primarily as I got a good deal on hotels.com) and at a perfect location. The evening staff were particularly friendly and always came up with perfect suggestions for where to dine in the evenings. The decor in the jazz bar and breakfast room was stunning, although in my opinion the breakfast/bar/room service were far too pricey for what you get. I stayed in a deluxe double bedroom which was a good size and the bathroom was clean and just about the right size. However, the wardrobe space was a little too small annd the doors were loose.

Hotel has been recently renovated to a high standard. We were most impressed by the standard of service from ALL the staff, at breakfast, at reception, the chambre maids. All were welcoming, cheerful and professional. The breakfast was extra cost but very good. Large choice of cooked and continental, well presented and fresh. Our room was very good, facing the main road we had some traffic noise at peak times but otherwise comfortable and clean.

Good combination of location for leisure trips, charm and confort. The music, the breakfast room, the terrace, gives it the "extra". The rooms could be bigger indeed...but could not be cleaner.

The quality of this hotel does not match with the 4 stars hotels. Customer services needs to be more helpfull with directions and address. Room was so small for two, breakfast was nice, should be rated as a 3 stars hotel. The good thing about this hotel was the location was in the center of the Nice.

If you plan on booking through Expedia, Hotels.com or any service other than the hotel directly; plan on being treated like a second class guest. Hotel is nice, but staff not very helpful and NOTHING is included in the price. Breakfast in very nice courtyard, but very expensive. Hotels.com and hotel did not communicate about reservation changes and had us double booked. Hotel made no effort to help resolve the problem and charged us as a no show until we addressed problem personally. Had to use a calling card to reslove problem with no help from hotel staff.

Though the room was small by American standards, it was clean and comfortable. Bathroom was as well, though not much bigger than one found on an airplane. Staff was extremely helpful and pleasant, very professional and spoke perfect English. Only two issues: a weak air conditioner that barely cooled the room, and the hotel's proximity to a hospital meant that the sounds of ambulances passing by were frequent.

Nothing too appalling about this hotel but it was definitely not up to 4 (or even 3) star quality and was way overpriced. Would not stay there again: Staff was not friendly - they did not greet people, did not help with luggage and were not helpful with information about the city and events. The room was cramped and the carpet was perpetually damp. The bathroom was clean though and robes were nice. They did not provide many toiletries but what they did provide was acceptable. Though there was an elevator, we still had to maneuver steps to get to the lobby and to our room. The hallway lights were on sensors and would take too long to come on so we were walking up steps in the dark. Some of the lights in the elevator were also out. There was quite a bit of road noise. Breakfast was a set price and extremely overpriced at that. The lobby bars were a sort of old Hollywood style. The outside was kept clean.

The hotel offers a good price for a short stay in Nice, considering the region is pretty expensive. However, the quality of service in this hotel is not really meeting a 4-star standard in my opinion. The air condition was not working (which was not a very big problem considering it was spring), the hotel room was quite old (including the towels and everything, it seemed that nothing was renewed in the last few years) and the staff were quite inexperienced (could not connect phone calls, forgot wake up calls, etc) even though they were very friendly and helpful. I'd say this hotel is all right for a short vacation, but would probably not meet your expectations during a business trip. By the way, the ad says there is internet, but it's only free in the lobby, and you have to pay 15 euros to have connection in your room.

Nyoppusset hotell med svært hyggelig og serviceinnstilt betjening - god frokost i fin hage - alt i alt en god opplevelse.

Var for så vidt et ok hotell, men at det skulle være 4 stjerner har jeg litt vanskelig for å tro, mulig for 20 år siden, men hotellet var slitt og rommene var små. Men de som jobbet der var hyggelig og hjelpsom. Rent var også rommet. Hotellet lå veldig sentalt til shoppinggate med flere kjøpesenter, max 5 min å gå. Stranda ligger 10 min gange fra hotellet, og er absolutt verd å få med seg. 10 min gange til gammelbyen, og det er verd et besøk på kveldene. Mange restauranter og puber med liv og røre. Togstasjon ligger 10 min gange fra hotellet. Og det enkelt å ta tog både til Monaco, og andre veien til Antibes og Cannes. Til St. Tropez er det båt som er beste alternativ ( merk at den går ikke alle dager). Reiser gjerne tilbake til Nice.

Små enkle rom, fint bad, veldig hyggelig betjening som snakket godt engelsk. Svært sentral beliggenhet.

Service attentionné, tout pour nous aider à travailler dans les salons confortables de l'hotel et dans la jolie cour extérieure. Seul bémol:chambres un peu petites

Pour un quatre étoiles, les chambres sont petites et la propreté laisse à désirer. Le seul point fort est la belle terrasse pour le petit déjeuner

This hotel was an ok place to stay for a short holiday, if you expect a 2-star hotel. But the hotel is given 4 stars, which is nowhere near the hotel standard. The foyer looks great and could be that of a 4-star hotel, but that is also where it stops. The service and the extra facilities you would expect of a 4 star hotel are not to be seen anywhere. We got our room for a good price for a 4-star hotel, but what we experienced was only worth half that. Set your expectation low and this is an ok place to stay due to the great location, but if you expect a 4-star, don't choose this hotel as your next place to stay in Nice.

bis auf das Badezimmer war alles prima - badezimmer war kalt, hatte kaum zu öffnendes altes Fenster und keine gute Dusche! Service im Hotel sehr gut! Freundlich!

Hotellet ligger bara ett stenkast från huvudgatan med en mängd olika typer av restauranger i närheten. Till stranden tar det bara ca 15 min promenad och till marknaden ca 10 min. När det uppstod problem men ett handfat på rummet fick vi som kompensation en svit samt fria drinkar och ett otroligt vänligt bemötande!

Sarà la posizione centrale, ma sembra un 2 stelle adattato. Camera piccola, letto piccolo, spazi piccoli per spostarsi.. non si sa neanche dove mettere la valigia. E poi, colazione a 20 euro.

Im ganzen Zimmer war weder eine Kommode noch eine einzige Schublade, sondern nur Griff-Atrappen an Nachttsich und Schreibtisch! Zudem waren im Kleiderschrank ganze 4 Klerderbügel und lediglich ein Tablar zum Verstauen der Wäsche!

Leuk ingerichte kamer, niet heel groot maar groot genoeg. Geluidsisolatie dubbel glas prima (op de 4e verdieping vrijwel niets meer te horen van het verkeer). Schuifwandje kledingkast is een gammele constructie. Badkamer minpunt: gedateerd en vol schimmelvlekken; jammer dat dit niet met de renovatie is meegenomen. Hotel op goede locatie in stad (10 minuten vanaf strand). Hotel en lobby-inrichting: aantrekkelijk gerenoveerd. Service personeel: vriendelijk en correct aan balie. Schoonmaak kamer met de Franse slag; geen aanvulling badkamerproducten.

Bra hotell med fin innegård..

The hotel's location is perfect. It is very central and beach and Nice's old town can be reached within a few minutes. The hotel team is very friendly and helpful. The internet access is indeed free. The breakfast buffet was not included in the room price but it is possible to buy a voucher for a little price. The public areas seem to have enjoyed a recent refurbishment whereas the rooms are in need for some touch-ups. At least the one we had which was a Superior room. The bathroom was very small, had no window. The room's safe was existent but the lock was taken out.....(?) Anyway, the room was cleaned properly, linen and towels were clean. A star-rating of 4 seems too high for this particular room.

Superbe hôtel situé en centre-ville mais calme! Excellente qualité de service, propreté irréprochable & chambre tout confort. A noter un tres beau patio pour profiter du soleil dès le petit-dejeuner

Rigtig god service på hotellet. Meget venlige. Vi havde et lille spædbarn med, hvilket absolut ikke var noget probelem. God placering.

Hôtel bien placé, rue un peu passante mais double vitrage, donc suffisamment silencieux (et je suis exigeant sur la question). Je suis resté 3 nuits. J'ai bénéficié d'une "junior suite", ce qui était très correct vu le prix. Mais (il n'y a pas de hasard) la moquette était tachée par endroit, une ampoule était grillée (elle n'a été remplacée que quand je l'ai signalé) et la bonde du lavabo ne fonctionnait pas. Hormis ces petits détails, mais qui ont leur importance dans un standing 4 étoiles, bon accueil, bonnes prestations, écran plat, jacuzzi, peignoir, bonne literie, déco de la chambre un peu froide à mon goût, mais sanitaires OK. J'ai eu un souci avec la chambre du dessus où des enfants ont couru toute la nuit, m'empêchant de dormir, mais ce sont des désagréments difficilement évitables... J'ai appelé la réception à 2 heures du matin, qui m'a dit qu'elle allait monter vérifier. Cela dit, cela a recommencé plus tard dans la nuit... En conclusion : un hôtel globalement pas mal, mais la chambre manquait un peu de charme. Je n'ai pas testé la restauration de l'hôtel.

Friendly staff, small room, but had all amenities (incl kettle), very clean, not loud at all (we had a room at the end of the corridor though), pretty large bathroom, great location near the city centre (about 5min walk to the Place Massena), hence, overall a great stay in the hotel.

I was in the room 603 which is proposed as "de luxe". This is in fact no more than a 2/3 stars room, very small and with bathroom WITHOUT HEATING!!!!. Was a very bad experience. I cant imagine how is the ?superior? room!!! Moreover the corridor to my room was very dirty and with materials left on walls (pictures available). I saw an Executive room at the third floor, and this is a 4 stars room. So If you plan to go in this hotel, consider that the minimum 4 stars room is Executive.

Gute Lage, saubere Zimmer, Hotel macht einen guten Eindruck. Die Hotelangestellten sollten besser über die guten Restuarants und Bars in der Nähe informiert sein.

Perfect service, wonderfull staf, very helpful, beautiful building, very nice room (with coffee and tea facilities!) and bathroom, nice neigbourhood... I have stayed in various hotels in Nice, but this is defenitely the best and the one where I will return.
