Scandic Helsinki Grand Marina - Helsinki

The location was great but the service was that of a 2 star. Not great service. Not too many amenities.

This was an excellent hotel which I can recommend wholeheartedly. Excellent location, extremely clean and well maintained. The staff were professional, personable, friendly, and helpful. The breakfast was incredible! The booking price was quite a bit cheaper through hotels.com than what we had to pay to book an additional day when we ended up staying an extra day.

The Grand Marina is in a great location, just a few minutes walk to Tram #4 and an easy scenic walk to the city center. The staff was cordial and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.

The Scandic Grand Marina was perfect for our family vacation. The rooms were great and we walked to the hotel from our ferry ride from Stockholm. The tram #4 is a block away to get you to the city center in 3 minutes or a pleasant 10 minutes walk will do the trck as well.

I found my stay at the Grand Marina to be a decent experience. The hotel lobby and exterior are quite nice, though the rooms are a bit under-whelming. Our room had a very large pillar blocking the only window. The bathroom finishings were a bit dated and a bit cheap. Overall, though, the hotel is reasonably nice and very clean. Given that room rates are quite low, I could recommend a stay at this conveniently located hotel, which is very close to the largest open air market and main shopping and dining area of Helsinki.

Hotel is clean with freindly English speaking staff. Rooms was clean but warm and no in-room A/C but outside temps were 32C and warmer. They did provide a fan. Easy walk to the harbor and other attractions. Restaurant in the hotel was acceptable with a big breakfast included. I would stay there again when in Helsinki.

Feb 09 with family,The exterior of the hotel looks very stylish and is in a great location, walking distance to the main square, cathedral, ferry service and main shopping district. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and spoke English. Despite been Check in was very efficent and they had a small gift for our girls which was a nice touch. There is a nice bar area, shop, gym and sauna. The restaurant provided a good buffet selection (eat well as food and most things are expensive- we took the girls to pizza hut and it was 30 Euros for a large deep pan veggie pizza). There was a childrens menu in the evening 5E and a pirate play ship which they could play in while you were in the restaurant and still be able to watch them. Food was good, 15=25 E for a main course which is average for Helsinki. The rooms were smallish and only had a small window but were clean and modern. The staff were very helpful. Location was good. There is a small childrens playground near by and a convenience store around the corner. The hotel faces their conference building, so not a lot of rooms have a view of the sea. It is very close to the ferry port, but was not noisy or affected by its location.Helsinki was a great place to visit, we went ice skating in the square, sledging, ferry trip and a great visit to Helsinki zoo with its ice sculptures, don't bother with the Sealife Centre its small and expensive.You'll have a great time, but you'll need deep pockets!!!

Location was a little out of down town, but not too far. Definitely walkable, which is something you might want to do to keep your blood moving in -12 temperatures. Great value for the money and and very friendly staff. No complaints.

If you want the feel of a luxury hotel but don't want to pay for it, the Grand Marina may be what you are looking for. It has most of the creature comforts of a Marriott or Hilton, including a trendy bar/restaurant, decent (but not great) gym, sauna, etc. Everything was very clean and staff was always helpful. I had the 'economy' room, which was a bit smaller than most people expect if you are used to American hotels. But all in all, a good value for the money.

We stayed at the Grand Scenic for two nights, it was a great choice. Great location, nice modern hotel, close to everything we needed. We were there in winter but I imagine it would be even better in summer with the harbour so close.

Great hotel and service and great range for breakfast. Free internet was good too. Only downside is no kettle in the room and you have to pay a lot to get some hot water for tea to your room.

This redesigned older building is clean, convivial, practical, strong saunas, plentiful fresh breakfast, friendly lobby bar. You meet people in the maritime industries in the clientèle, because of its location next to the Maritime conference center. The Scandic attributes -- including free internet, sustainable approach to safety, laundry and soap, etc, are all in evidence.

The hotel was located in a perfect area to walk around and take in the surroundings. Not far from the center of Helsinki and right next to a grocery store and the ferries. Great for people who like to explore and walk around without feeling isolated.

we spent a weekend in Helsinki staying at this hotel, the staff and facilities in the hotel were really excellent; more times available for the sauna would have been nice but otherwise it really was excellent.

We stayed there for a weekend with the center of Helsinki is within walking distance. We did notice some small cost-saving cutbacks made by the hotel (24h room-service replaced by a 24h bar in the lobby), which didn't significantly affect overall quality. Rather, it permitted good prices.

I checked in well after 1am but was greeted promptly and was in my room within five minutes with codes for the WiFi network. The room was super clean and well designed. It even had a specially designed bin for separating recyclables into their groups. I didn't try the hotel breakfasts, although I had a coffee and cake in the coffee shop. Both were just what I wanted. I ate breakfast in the market at the top of the marina and it was cheap and excellent. The hotel is well located, well maintained and well designed.

decent hotel

This is a busy hotel about 10 minutes work from the market square which is the heart of the city. We stayed for 3 nights in a family room (2 adults and 2 big kids, aged 14 and 12). The kids shared a very comfy sofa bed and we all slept well. Breakfast is very busy particular after 9am and is a buffet style - plentiful and filling. We had no complaints whilst we were there.

If you are looking for a hotel that is in the center of Helsinki, this is not the one. It seems that everything is situated around the train Terminal and the hotel is a bit of a walking distance from there, it will cost you around 10 Euro to get to the hotel from the train station. There are couple of good club (Helsinki Club and Onnela) but once again they are around the train station. However, this is a really good business hotel!!! as the convention center is right across the street.

The hotel is in a good location near the harbour, rooms clean... there was NO food available in the hotel through the day which is odd... not even room service until 6pm. Other than that it is great value and the breakfast is very good. Free internet is also a bonus.

Practical, not so far from city center, but too close to the ferry terminal. Room located on the last floor : too much noise of wind during the night.

For a large hotel chain we were pleasantly surprised. Breakfast excellent, room very good and overall well run operation!

On the waterfront, walking distance to most of 'historic' and 'shopping' Helsinki, this Marina hotel is a find. It is a tastefully designed renovation of a former 19th c waterfront business building with comfortable (albeit smallish rooms with narrow windows - this to accomodate the old style character of the original building). The staff is EXCELLENT - they are attentive, courteous, knowledgeable, helpful and cheerful. Three computers in the lobby for cost-free internet and an excellent sauna (also cost-free) for the guests, with separate convenient times for both men and women. This place, as the other Scandic hotels, is a find.

Bra hotell hvor jeg har bodd flere ganger, men det lå flere hår på toalettskålen, og det er litt ekkelt. Typisk businesshotell, ville ikke bodd her med kjæresten

vi blev opgraderet til et superior værelse da vi skulle være der i 8 dage. Det var med til at gøre opholdet til en fornøjelse. Vores venner på alm. dobbeltværelse var noget klemte med små vinduer og mangel på frisk luft.

Då jag har återkommit tre år i följd til Scandic Marina, betyder att hotellet känns bra. Den tolfte augusti anlände jag och min son till hotellet för att stanna två nätter. Vi beslutade oss för att äta middag på hotellet. När det var tid att betala notan blev det problem, jag ville göra som jag brukar göra , nämnligen att ta notan på rummet, vilket var helt omöjligt enligt restaurangpersonal de var mycket otrevliga. Slutligen efter en livlig disskusion tog mannen med mig till receptionen, där var det inga som helst problem. Den kvällen kändes inte bra för oss. Tveksamt om vi kommer att bo hos er i fortsättningen

Mötte alla krav man kan ha på ett Scandichotell.

Vi har bare gode anbefalinger til alle som tenker å bruke dette hotellet. Skulle vi finne på å feriere en annen gang i Helsinki så er dette hotellet absolutt et førstevalg.

Angenehme und komforttable Zimmer. Gute Dusche/WC. Ein par Kleiderablagen würden nicht schaden. Flachbildfernseher wäre an der Wand besser (kein Halsverdrehen). Bei vollbelegung ist das Frühstücken etwas mühsam das Angebot aber ist reichlich. Ansonsten ist das Hotel sehr empfehlenswert.

Utmerket valg for familieferie i Helsingfors. Stort familierom, frokost der de minste finner ting de liker, meget vennlig personale i resepsjonen. Parkeringsplasser til alle til rimelig døgnpris, og kort avstand til salutorget, alle båtene og fergene, Esplanaden osv. Topp!

Fint og stort hotell i sentrum på havnen. Nært "Salutorget", fergene, båten til dyreparken og sentrum. Familiehotell, men rommet hadde ikke 4 senger som vi hadde bestillt. Dårlig løsning å ligge på en "sovesofa" i 3 dager :-(

The number of TV channels on the hotel room is very limited and only in Finnish. This could definitely be improved.

Nieuw hip hotel, rustige ligging vlakbij de haven en op loopafstad van het centrum. Door de weeks komen er veel zakenmensen (o.a. vanwege conferentiezalen), maar in het weekend ook de nodige gezinnen met kleine kinderen. Kamer en ontbijt waren gewoon goed. Middag/avondeten vonden wij minder. Bier en wijn waren niet lekker, maar wel duur (maar dit is overal in Helsinki/Finland)!

Das Hotel an sich ist durchaus empfehlenswert. Jedoch hat es leider den Charakter eines Massenunterbringungscenters. Das Frühstück ist üppig jedoch nichts für den feineren Gaumen. Das Personal ist Arbeitsbereit und fleißig, jedoch nicht besonders Kommunikativ. Die Sauna kann nur getrennt ( Mann und Frau ) benutzt werden. Was uns dann davon abhielt sie zu benutzen. Die Minibar war nur teilweise befüllt. Im Zimmer konnte man nur spärlich lüften weil die Fenster zum Teil sehr klein und nur ca. 3cm zu öffnen waren. Nachts wurde man von einem ständigen Rauschen der Heizung irgendwann auch in den schlaf gerauscht - was etwas störend war. Die Aussicht hatte sich durch die kleinen Fensterluken und den verbauten Hafen erledigt. Kurzum als Angebot zu empfehlen jedoch als 4 Sterne Hotel erfüllt es keineswegs die Erwartungen und daher zum regulären Preis sicherlich zu teuer.

Carichi di valigie, nessuno per dare una mano. Camera pulita male. Cucina discreta, servizio del ristorante ottimo. Orario della cucina terribile: non funziona la domenica a pranzo.

Familjen - 2 vuxna och 2 barn -11 och 15 år- skulle endast tillbringa en natt i Helsingfors med anledning av ett släktkalas. Familjerummet fungerade mycket bra för denna korta sejour och frukosten var väl sorterad. Personalen i receptionen var mycket tillmötesgående och serviceinriktad vilket i min erfarenhet inte alltid är fallet i Finland.

super Lage, direkt am Hafen, wenige Minuten zu Fuß vom Stadtzentrum. Altes Speichergebäude, mit Charme renoviert, schon etwas älter, aber absolut ok. Zimmer ganz obern verlangen, dann Blick aufs Wasser. Frühstücksbuffett ist vielseitig und lecker.

mycket nära till centrum och lätt att promenera till sevärdheter. Hotelpersonal är trevliga och kunde prata svenska. Vi bodde tre i ett rum så jag sov i en bäddsoffa. Frukosten är bra och gott om platsen så vi kunde hitta bord mycket lätt. Bagagerummet var bra eftersom det finns många låsbart skårp.

Goed netjes hotel, vriendelijk personeel, erg uitgebreid ontbijt. Ligt dicht bij de haven waar rondvaarten kunnen worden gemaakt, en van waar naar tallinn kan worden gevaren. Ongeveer 15 minuten lopen naar het hoofdstation van helsinki en 10 minuten naar het centrum.

Tolle Aussicht auf den Hafen Zu Fuß ist man in 5min im Zentrum Am riesigen Frühstücksbuffet war´s ziemlich chaotisch

Hotellet och rummet är mycket bra. Vi var där under den varmaste perioden sommaren 2008. Vi anlände törstiga och blev glatt överraskade av den rikliga minibaren. Det visade sig vara ett stort misstag att utnyttja minibaren. En vanlig läsk typ fanta kostar 5 euro. Vi fick betala 15 euro för tre läsk. Sanslöst.

Glatt överraskade över det stora rummet med rejäla sängar för både vuxna och barn. Mycket bra pris för hela familjen! Fräscht!

Bra och prisvärt sommarboende för semestrande 2 barnsfamilj. Bra bemötande av barnen vilket är viktigt.
